The Seagull Coastline Spruce is a dreadnought acoustic guitar that features back and sides made from a 3-layer lamination of wild cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a mahogany guitar and the bright sound of maple, wild cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, wild cherry is also an ecologically friendly choice. Seagull Coastline series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple. Seagull Coastline Series guitars represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars.

I haven't been playing guitar very long, but I have to say, out of all the guitars I considered from and under the $600 mark, this guitar was the best overall for my needs(I'm mainly a strummer). The other guitars I considered were the blueridge br-70 and the taylor 110, but I felt the seagull was a better made guitar with better tone and the taylor was about even in terms of construction and tone with the seagull, but was another $150 more. That being said, the taylor and the blueridge were more comfortable to play due to their lower action and thinner necks, but I figure a good set-up should fix that issue shortly. IMO, My recommendation is to put medium strings on this guitar if you really want the best sound. It's not quite as tight and punchy as the taylor is, but it has a warmer, rounder sound (maybe its the martin sp's that I have on the guitar). Definitely recommended if you are looking for a guitar in the 300-600 dollar range, and IMO one of the best laminate back and sides guitar on the market today.

.I got this guitar today and it is already my pride and joy. I had several cheaper, lower end guitars that I wasn't happy with so I sold them, saved up, and decided to get a decent, solid-topped guitar. This guitar came perfect right out of the box and I couldn't be happier. Very basic as far as cosmetics (which i like) and zero fret buzz. Make the right decision and get this or any other Seagull. Kinda wish it had electronics though... and ignore the Custom Guitars Friend picture, the top is a very, VERY light colored spruce and the pickguard is dark brownish..

.I just got one of these today and put some new strings on it. i played it against several other guitars and was very impressed. I bought it from a store that is closing out this brand, so I got a very good price.
I have other guitars that were much more expensive and I wanted a guitar I could take anywhere, leave in the trunk (when its not too hot) and not worry about. This guitar fit the bill price-wise, and it is a wonderful added bonus that it sounds so good!
I must say that most Seagull guitars, in my opinion, do NOT sound good. They have a very flat tone devoid of overtones, low volume, and absolutely no bass. However, if you have several to choose from, you may be able, like me, to find a real gem. This one does have an excellent response across all registers.
I have always been favorably impressed by the look of Seagull guitars. The spruce top on this one is very wide-grained, but quite pleasant-looking. The back and sides are richly stained laminated cherry. Very nice looking guitar.
