This is the 8th different flanger pedal I have owned. I currently have four on my board now, two digital and two analog. This is one of the digital ones. I am very pleased with it's tones, very rich and smooth. Big huge sweeps. For the price it can't be beat. Plus it's small size and universal power adapter make it very pedal board friendly. It doesn't have as many options as my Flanger Hoax, but it's simplicity makes it shine. You can't go wrong with it. I never owned an original Electric Mistress so I can not compare to how it sounds to the original.
Electro-Harmonix Neo Mistress Flanger Guitar Effects Pedal
.If you want to sound like Andy Summers from the Police, this is the pedal for you! Not quite as good as the deluxe version (which includes more options like chorus) but much more affordable and smaller. It sounds like a metallic, sweeping wave! Amazing harmonic swirling effect!
It uses true bypass switching and 2 knobs for simple, easy-to-use controls. The rate knob controls the sweep speed. The feedback knob controls the depth of the sweep. It includes the "Filter Matrix," which allows you to freeze the sweep (giving you everything from classic jet tones to steel drums).

.I really like the EH Nano pedals I've purchased (Small Stone, Neo Clone, Memory Toy and LPB-1), so I had high expectations for the Neo Mistress. This little pedal is actually very versatile in that it allows you access the filter matrix function and swept mode with a single knob. The overall tone is rich and smooth with a nice natural sweep and a very useful depth control. It is quite analog-sounding for a digital/analog hybrid circuit. No, it doesn't sound like a Deluxe Electric Mistress. It won't really do that Andy Summers/David Gilmour shimmering chorus-flange tone that the DEM excels at. This pedal has its own identity and almost sounds like a phaser is mixed in with the flanging effect on some settings. Another plus is that there is no volume drop when the effect is engaged.
The only real downside, as I see it, is that this pedal is somewhat noisy. There is a consistent background hiss no matter where the knobs are set. Others have posted online about this, so I don't think I have a defective example. Compared to my MXR and A/DA flangers, the Neo Mistress is definately noisier. Tone wise, however, the Neo can actually hold its own (in its own way, because all 3 pedals sound different from each other) when compared to those two classics. Try before you buy, if you can. The hiss may not bother you so much when you hear how good this pedal sounds.

.This is the flanger to get if you need to cover the basic flanger sounds.

.This is a handy little unit. Well built, great sound, wide tones. Its especially handy if your using small club type amps and want that BIG sound. The only "beef", and its a small one, is that you take off the entire back to replace the battery. Would be more convenient if it were a compartment. It can use a power supply, so that takes care of the battery access issue. See, told you it was small.
