Its gain stage, treble control and signal path are optimized for bass guitar and guitarists wanting extended low frequency response. An adjustable clean blend assures an articulate, full tone while boosted power rails deliver extended headroom.

Superb USA-made overdrive at an unbeatable price. Very versatile! Anything from clean boost to biting overdrive at your fingertips. The optional buffered bypass toggle inside was a nice touch. The included power supply was a nice step up from some other competetors, too. If you've been searching a while for that perfect drive that doesn't completely alter the integrity of your bass tone but still gives enough dirt, your search may be over!

I switched from the Pigtronix Fat Bass Drive to the Bass Soul Food. The review above me has said a good amount about this pedal, so I won't repeat what they said. This has just the right sound I've been wanting. Even blended all the way in, and the drive all the way over, it's not too distorted for me. It'll do a clean boost just fine as well. Really pleased that there's still good low end. Doesn't kill my tone. I mainly use it on my USA G&L SB-2 with flatwounds. I was considering the MXR Bass Overdrive but it was more expensive & I didn't like the sound of it as much. The video from EHX doesn't do this pedal justice, in my opinion. There's a couple more videos out there on YouTube that represent it a little better. This is my first EHX pedal & so far I am happy with it. Built in the USA & build quality seems good & tough. Get growling with the Bass Soul Food!

.Definetly my most used pedal expect my compressor that I have in all the time. It adds a great amount of grit and tone. I even use it as a clean boost to get a Geddy like bass tone. I don't think I'll be replacing it soon, though I would love to try the bass tube screamer.

.Simply put, the Bass Soul Food is everything I want in an bass Overdrive pedal. It gives everything from a clean boost to a gritty overdriven sound that isn't overly fuzzy. The blend knob is perfect for dialing in some dirty highs and mids, while keeping your low end present. It stacks very well with other drive pedals if you are looking to get a really distorted sound, and is extremely low noise, even with the drive and blend maxed out. If you are looking for a pedal to give you enough presence to cut through the mix, but retain your low end, this is what you need.

.I simply love this pedal. I run it after my Compressore and before my VT Bass. Adds punch and a little growl without distorting the tone. Fender Am Sp Jazz w/ flatwounds into either a small 12" MarkBass for small stuff or into a MarkBass 800 and Eden 4X10 for the larger stuff.

.This pedal is fantastic. I've been slowly trying to put together a rig with the best, most transparent sound I can. I run this through a Hartke LH1000 with a GK NEO410 & NEO115. It works great as a boost, an OD, or as a mild distortion. The sound of the pedal is very transparent, and the blend knob is great. Keeps the low end intact very well, and seems to have a range of tones. My only complain is that it'll drain a battery in a hurry, but luckily it comes with the 9V adapter. Great pedal for bass, and guitar too, at an awesome price!

.Just getting into using pedals with my bass. Tried this and it doesn't work for me. But there is no accounting for taste. Your mileage may vary.

.Haven't played with it much yet but so far doesn't do much for me. Then again playing soul, funk, blues, reggae and ska, the overdrive really doesn't fit on my bass sound.

.So far I have used this pedal about a half dozen times. It's not as smooth as my B3K, but I knew that gong in. It does what it does well and for half of the B3K's cost. I needed an OD pedal for another band and this one works quite well. BONUS was the power supply in case I just want to use it and not take the entiore pedal board
