A sophisticated noise gate that can tame a single pedal or an entire effects loop! The Silencer' three-control layout provides precise fine-tuning to fit your system, axe and playing style. Threshold adjusts how much level is required to open the noise gate and allow a signal to pass thru. Reduction regulated the degree to which the gated signal is reduced and is variable between -70dB and +4dB. Release controls how long the gate remains open after the signal drops below the Threshold. Release time is variable between 8ms and 4 seconds.
I/O includes 1/4" Input, Output, Send and Return jacks. The footswitch selects whether The Silencer is engaged or in bypass mode; buffered bypass allows the effects loop to remain in your signal path when the gate is bypassed. A built-in AC jack accepts a standard power supply like the EHX 9.6DC unit (optional) and the pedal comes with a 9V battery.

I had to replace my Boss NS-2 and purchased this gem. This blows away my NS-2! This is the best noise gate I have ever used. No hum or feedback at all. This is a great noise gate hands down!
Electro-Harmonix Silencer Noise Gate Guitar Effects Pedal
.Added it to the effects loop of a Randall RG150 head on a 4x12 cabinet and it does exactly what I needed it to. Now channel 3 slays and the ever-popular hiss is non existent. Party.
Electro-Harmonix Silencer Noise Gate Guitar Effects Pedal
.The first noise gate I've encountered that has a natural fade out to it. The true bypass is definitely nice.

.This product works well with my noisy Marshall head. Keeps the good, out with the bad!
Electro-Harmonix Silencer Noise Gate Guitar Effects Pedal
.When I plugged it in with a few overdrives and a telly or strat, it made more noise. With an SG and Les Paul with humbuckers or other it works but hides some sound. I tried it with the isolation of the pedal but some response is slow. Some pedals don't like each other and some work fine I tried boss sd1, big m, tube screamer, sweeet cream and the mojo mojo , if you use one your ok . Two in the chain doesn't help. Might be my power supply , but some work and some don't. All I can say is try it but don't look for miracles.

I added this into my loop along with the East River Drive and several other pedals. It is very effective in silencing the normal hiss and hum of gain in the effects loop.
At this time I am having some difficulty dialing in the pedal.
Different guitars have different hum/hiss issues, so I am struggling setting the threshhold so that it does not stop my initial pick attack but still cancels the feedback on the loop. After a slight delay on the initial attack, it kicks in very well and scrubs the line very clean. I am running my TC Electronics HyperGravity Compressor, Donner Boost Killer, East River Drive and Boss DS-1 (this one is going away soon for the SD-1) using the effects loop function. Very clean going into the "color" effects side of my board.

Electro-Harmonix Silencer Noise Gate Guitar Effects Pedal
.I am still experimenting with settings but have found nothing so far not to like. Even though I'm sure there are new discoveries ahead, I already know that this little gem is a needed addition to my home studio. Anything that lessens or eliminates unwanted noise streamlines the process later on. Having been a big fan of his and getting to see Jimi in early summer of '70, I always welcomed the criticism, "If they took his pedals away he wouldn't be able to place ****!" Stompboxes have been my little friends for 50+ years and I'm not done yet.
Electro-Harmonix Silencer Noise Gate Guitar Effects Pedal
.Very sensitive and responsive. You will not be disappointed. Great investment. An EHX gem.
