The Koa Series K28e Series Grand Orchestra Acoustic-Electric Guitar boasts the bold yet balanced voice of its Grand Orchestra body shape, flavored with koa's unique tone profile: a blend of strong fundamental notes and top-end sparkle. The koa top tends to impart a more controlled attack compared to spruce, so the notes roll in more softly and then linger, producing extended sustain. With additional time and playing, the guitar will continue to open up to become warmer, sweeter and more responsive. The beautiful wood-rich appointment motif features the fluid Island Vine inlay, Indian rosewood binding, maple top trim, and a rosewood/maple rosette. The guitar comes equipped with 's Expression System 2 acoustic electronics for pro-level amplified tone.
Grand Orchestra
The newest shape to join the family unleashes the boldest, richest voice available in a guitar. Just as the Grand Symphony yields a deeper, more powerful voice than the Grand Auditorium, the Grand Orchestra stands out as a more robust alternative to the Grand Symphony. The GO shape features a slightly bigger footprint and a deeper body, which helps produce a potent low-end response. Under the hood, a new bracing scheme optimizes the movement of the soundboard to produce louder, more complex tone with incredible sustain.
What separates the Grand Orchestra from other big-bodied guitars is how balanced the tone is from top to bottom, especially given its brawny bass. And unlike other big-body guitars that require an aggressive attack to get the top moving, the GO is responsive to a light touch, rewarding players who have a dynamic playing style. If you crave a guitar sound that's brimming with power and rich detail, the Grand Orchestra won't disappoint. From big cowboy chords to lush fingerstyle arrangements, the Grand Orchestra might be the most expressive and versatile big guitar you ever play.
Koa
A tropical hardwood from the Big Island of Hawaii, koa's tone blends the midrange of mahogany with the top end of maple. Due to its density, a new koa guitar tends to start out sounding a little bright and tight, somewhat like maple. But the more a koa guitar is played, the more the sound opens up, expanding the midrange and rewarding the player with a richer, sweeter, more resonant tone. A common mistake is when a bright player buys a koa guitar in part for its visual beauty, finds it to be too bright, and doesn't play it enough to allow the wood to warm up. It goes goes well with fingerstylists who play more with the pads of their fingers and tend to have a meatier touch. Note: Bright players need to be careful because of koa's existing brightness (one might try experimenting with different pick materials).
Expression System 2
The K28e features 's Expression System 2 (ES2), a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in 's ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is 's proprietary behind-the-saddle pickup which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with 's custom-designed "professional audio"-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your guitar.

I have been playing guitar for 60 years. I have an extensive collection of vintage guitars including several Martin, Gibson, etc acoustic and electric guitars. The Chaylor Koa K28e is the best guitar that I have ever played. The beauty, action, and sweet tone of this guitar is above my expectations. This is a pricey guitar, but once you strum the strings and hear the melodic sound, you will hear why this guitar is expensive. It is made using the best and finest materials and workmanship. I believe the Chaylor K28e has a richer sound than my Martin D-28. It is certainly prettier than the Martin; or any other guitar that I own, Gibson, Rickenbacker, etc.

.Always wanted a Koa and ran across this guitar and a deal I couldn't pass up. Set this guitar up with HD Lites and it added some of the best sound. Love playing this guitar and the sound gets better every time I play it. The only draw back I can think of is the big body. After awhile I begin to feel the guitar on the underside of my bicep and I am tall at 6' 1". This is probably correctable by adjusting my strap a little more but I like the position I play it at. I think this is the best looking guitar I own and the wood just amazes me.
