The Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass '60s is an electric bass guitar that has all of the deluxe elements its Fender big brother did when first introduced in the 1960s: groovy offset waist design, narrow width, fast-action maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 2 custom single-coil pickups with Alnico V magnets, individual volume controls that allow you to solo either pickup's sound or blend them for new sounds, and a master tone control for overall tone shaping.
The look is Fender all the way - Inca Silver over basswood with a traditional tortoiseshell pickguard with thumb rest. Features include a HiMass bridge with brass barrel saddles, rosewood 20-fret vintage tint gloss maple neck with the modern playability of a 9.5" radius, and vintage-style frets. Tonal versatility and an up front sound - quick and punchy with enough clarity and harmonics to slap and pop.
Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender-branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of getting it right while aiming at value-conscious players.
The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and 'vibe'. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct, but rather imparting the 'vibe' of a classic Fender design. Each with distinctive feature set combinations - all adding up to one classic looking instrument.

I started playing bass in April 2012 after 6 years of guitar. Now I play bass in a Post-Punk band. I have a very fast punk rock style like Matt Freeman but also really grooving to some Motown or Jazz. I own both the White J Bass and Red Pbass in 2013. This review is for the White Jbass. For the other review check out the CV Pbass on Custom Guitars Friend.
Let me start by saying that this is the first bass I have played consistently. I have put it through its paces over the last 10 months and I will honestly give you all the info.
The neck feels really comfortable and just fits my hands well. I took to this bass like no other instrument since my 94 Gibson SG. I played all the basses at my local guitar store (about 15) and this one just called to me. Since I bought it I have come to appreciate the quality Squire is now putting out.
This thing is a player. The components might be a little on the cheaper side but the only issue I 've had is the input jack gets loose on me. So far no crackling but I know, if not dealt with, it will start to become a problem. Other than that I love it. I can't wait for this thing to show the wear and tear of touring and playing. I honestly never see myself selling this.

.Excellent value. This bass is top notch for the money. Smooth neck and and clean frets. I'm surprised at how good the quality control is on this bass. I was looking at the Squier Jaguar basses as well since they are in a similar price range and after playing both I can tell you that this bass is much higher quality. From the bridge to the nut this bass wins hands down in this price range. The vintage tint on the headstock looks incredible. I thought that "Squire" on the headstock might bother me a little, but it's actually quite the opposite. Since this thing is made so well I look at that "Squier" as saying "I made a smart purchase and got a killer value."

.I've been playing music for a while, and I play guitar, drums, bass, and i sing. That being said, I am mainly a guitar player, I own 11 electric guitars, and 4 drumsets. I only have ONE bass. I havent felt the need to get another one, this thing is AWESOME, and you can play anything with it. The neck is far more comfortable than i thought it would be as I usually dont like gloss necks. The pickups could be a little better, but they are still really good, just wish they had a little more low mid. This bass is TOUGH. One of my too eager bass playing friends dropped it twice, and now it has a crack in it, and it didnt affect the action at all... Im still going to get it fixed, but this thing WILL hold up over time, i LOVE my squier jazz bass!

.I've had this bass sense Dec 2008. It has been with me at every show, practice & recording session that we've had. I absolutely love this bass.
The neck is glossy & on the thinner side which is what I prefer. But it doesn't feel sticky or flimsy at all. The body has some weight to it but not so much that it kills your back. The finish on it is great. Still no signs of wear.
As far as the tone I couldn't ask for anything more. It has a well rounded tone. Wether you're looking for highs, mids or lows it can do it all with some tweeting of the knobs. I'm running mine through an Ampeg SVT 4 PRO & 8-10 cab. And didn't have to do a whole lot of EQ'ing.
I can tell you that this bass has been through a lot of abuse. I'm an aggressive player & this thing is still going strong. The only thing that I've changed out was the strap buttons for strap locks. Other than that it's bone stock & it'll stay that way for a long time.

.This is just a great all around bass that feels incredible in your hands. The neck feels like a custom shop with the tint and lacquer job and actually the quality of the entire bass is surprising with the exception of the volume and tone controls which I feel should be switched out as they are really cheap. First of all do not switch out these pickups..they have alnico V magnets and sound amazing and is the main reason this bass sounds as good as it does. The tuners on mine are adequate and hold the tuning perfectly and the heavy duty badd *ss style bridge with the brass saddles was a nice touch. The funny thing is..the only thing i have a problem with is that the headstock says Squier. That being said this bass plays and sounds better than any Fender bass i've ever had. Nothing to fear here people, the Classic Vibe series and Vintage Modified models are quality instruments.

.Surprising but I shouldn't be. I own the Squier CV Precision 60's and the CV Precision 50's. Great feel on the neck and typical Jazz body comfort. The Inca Silver color is stunning. I intend to mod the pickups, pots, pickguard, knobs and change the strings of course. Very, very happy with my purchase. First one came with some neck and body blemishes. MF switched out, no questions.

.I have vintage and masterbuilt instruments I purchased this as a knock around to bring to my office, once set up I was surprized on how well it played well worth the price point.

.My only gripe with this bass is that the bridge is wider than the usual Fender or Squier jazz standard. Even wider than my 4 string Warwick. This takes some getting used to playing (which slows me down). With that aside, this bass stands on it's own. I love the tone and the build speaks quality (and it's built in China?). Bought it on sale (used) which gives me extra money to upgrade some of the "cheap" parts (knobs/tuners). Buy it, play it and you'll soon realize you don't need that overpriced Fender.

.Had mine for over a year and couldn't be happier. Needed something to leave in the trunk of my car all day and not worry about during the midwest winter. Sounds just like a J-Bass should. Plus, it's got the right "satin" finish on the neck instead of the "poly" type finish on the Vintage Modified series. If you're an old guy looking for a back up bass or a new guy looking for the most instrument for the money, try one of the out.

.Squier is producing some amazing instruments these days, and this is no exception. I actually sold a Fender American Vintage '62 Stratocaster Reissue to buy this, and it was definitely worth it. The Strat was a fine guitar, but the Classic Vibe series is stellar.
Right out of the box this bass sounds and feels top-notch. With the two pickups it is very versatile. I use it to play many different styles, from jazz to rock. I will be hard pressed to find a better bass.
