Wowee! Picked up this fella today down at my local Guitar Center. Got a smokin' deal on it and decided to give it a go. Also i just really needed a bass. So, as of an hour ago, I just got back from a very loud band practice. I had an '85 Japanese Fender P-bass with me, but I didn't even bust that guy out of the case! This bass sounds excellent! These pickups have less mid range than the standard Jazz bass, which I like. Never been too fond of the sound of the J-bass, but this one sounds pretty decent! The neck feels great and no frets buzz. Had a buddy of mine set it up for me and this thing plays great. Probably gonna throw some flats on it in a few days, and I'll probably put a hi-mass bridge with brass saddles on it soon. Taking this bass down to a recording studio tomorrow, so we'll see how she sounds. first impressions of this bass are excellent and I intend to gig with it. (Also the finish is purdy. The end.)

.This is to replace my 1990's yamaha entry level bass. I have been very inspired to play bass with this without changing any set up or even the strings. I did swap the chrome knobs for standard Fender Jazz black set-screw knobs which I think look better, feel better and have a marker. I am very pleased with this bass.

.Bought simply to practice with. It's prefect for practice. It has good enough sound and play ability to use in small venues.

.I started playing Bass in 1964 in High School. I was envious of The Ventures album cover that showed all playing Fender guitars. I had to have a Fender Bass. Over the years I have owned dozens. I bought this model to try and "inspire" my grandson. The more I played it, the better I liked it so...I bought one for myself, just to have an "extra" at my son's house. Good quality, NICE finish. If it didn't say "Squier" on the headstock, I would be a lot happier...

.The Good: Good looking
The Not Good: Sound quality is OK for beginner.
The Reason I Could Never Recommend Squire products: The cable input became intermittent and then failed, the bass no longer produces any sound. This is only after 3 hours of use at home. Extremely disappointed in my financial loss on this Fender product, I'll be avoiding Fender anything forever as I don't enjoy giving them my money for NOTHING.
