Another review talks about how he hasn't played his expensive Les Paul since he bought this axe. So have I as a matter of fact! If you play country, blues or rock you should just buy this guitar. Its one of those secrets that one day will make it cost much more!
Its a tele, a very simple guitar and this is a great rendition of it.
I feel almost unpatriotic since this guitar was not made in America but when I went shopping for my Tele I played everyone in the store, including the American version and like this one the best. The quality is as good as any of the others I played.
Can I give it more than a 10? Like I said compared to all the other Tele's I played I actually prefered this one over the more expensive ones. Thats value!

.I have never played a better guitar for the money. The tone control is amazingly versatile going from crazy treble to chunky bass giving almost a les paul sound. I own Gibsons and high end Fenders but nothing beats this for the price. Plays and sounds great! I didn't play it out much because I was almost ashamed playing a 'Squire" owning all the pricy guitars I have but you just cant beat it!

.My first tele, I've been playing guitar for 50+ years, and always was a strat man. Count me in as a convert. Squier really out did themselves with this model. I defy you to find a better tele for the same money.
Pickups are plenty hot, six saddle bridge intonates perfectly. The guitar finish is amazing. Stays in tune.
Best ever?? I think so.

.After setting up the neck/action to my playing preferrence, I found this guitar to be more comfortable to play than most Fender Teles that I have played! Amazing. The frets were flawless, as was the neck. No weird uneven spots up or down the neck. Perfect! The only quibbles I had with this guitar was the fact that the strings load from the rear of the bridge plate instead of from the rear of the body like the classic Tele design. Therefore the sustain is not quite what it could be but it's barely noticible. Lastly the pick-ups tended to hum too much under adverse contitions, such as flourescent lights and other electrical interferrence. This is fairly normal for this type of pick-up, even "vintage" Fenders! But I solved that issue by replacing the pick-ups with Fender "noiseless" pick-ups. Problem solved! Even though I spend extra money upgrading the pick-ups this guitar is still an excellent value.
What can I say. This tele has all the attributes of a Fender, only at a much cheaper cost.
Fit and finish on my Squire Tele was near perfect. No complaints.
How can a guitar that plays and sounds this good right out of the box, cost so little??? To me that is value!

.I record music at home and played original music in bands 20 years ago. I cant find anything wrong with this. The pickups are not noisy and have a wide range of tones. The build quality is excellent and no flaws on the guitar or neck. I have owned an American Strat and this is is the same league. If it didn't say "squier" on the neck it could be confused with the higher priced versions. I prefer American and Japanese made instruments, but this guitar is not a compromise or just a beginners guitar.

.I've had it and been playing it for about a year.
Can't beat it for the money. Finish good, set-up ok. Hardware good to excellent, including the PU's. Be aware there is absolutely NO shielding on inside. I would replace strings and do a set-up, and at the same time, open it up and install copper foil with drain wires, install a real Fender selector switch, and replace PU and output wiring with shielded cable. Maybe also the output jack. Keep the tuners, PU's, and tail piece assembly. If you can do work yourself, its a steal. If not, its still a pretty good buy.
With the above suggestions, the guitar changes from a 60 Hz hum monster to quiet as a mouse. Also, I noticed a significant improvement in tone when I replaced the selector switch. Go figure.
This would be a great choice in some venues, because you won't have a heart attack if somebody trips and knocks it over, or worst case, steals it.
Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar Butterscotch Blonde
.I purchased my Blond Affinity Squire Telecaster thru Custom Guitar's Friend in 2004. My goal was to have a practice instrument and possibly a back-up instrument. I wrote a favorable review about four weeks after receiving the Tele. On a whim, I thought I'd give another review of the product ten years after.
The first guitar shipped had the neck attached improperly. Custom Guitar's Friend Customer Service was very helpful and I returned the instrument. I received a replacement Telecaster within a week. Right out of the box, I had to file the frets as they were finger cutters. Since I do my own work, this was no big deal, but I was becoming concerned about the quality of the Squire line of products. After the normal set-up, adjusting the bridge, setting the tuning, new strings, and playing the first time, I became quite impressed with this purchase and said so in my initial review.
Problems encountered over the years were (1) the nut was plastic and became cut and worn VERY quickly, (2) the pick-up selector switch failed, and (3) the neck pick-up failed. I consider these failures normal wear-and-tear considering the initial price paid and the way the guitar is used. I have noticed hum starting in the bridge pick-up, but it is the original. Other than normal scratches from picks and belt buckles, the finish is still good. The neck has been re-fretted once, again normal for a 10-year old working instrument. Every year or so, I clean the volume and tone pots and the pick-up selector switch. Other than required small maintenance items, I haven't replaced a thing in the last six years.
With practice time, gig time, and playing at church, I play the Tele at least three times a week. It is used as a back-up to my Strat when the band plays classic rock. It is my primary instrument when country or country gospel is played. The Tele provides the "twang" necessary for these types of music. I play through a Fender 2-12 combo amp and use a minimum of pedals. I prefer very light strings.
I am still impressed with this inexpensive yet durable Telecaster. Take care of the instrument and Blondie will last a long time. I give it 5-stars with a bullet.

.I own a Fender Stratocaster and an Epiphone Les Paul & was looking for another area of tone. The tele gives you the bite & twang you need in country & hard rock, & also has a warm, smooth tone you want for blues & jazz. Did I mention it's light & has a real fast neck? Wow! There are plenty of higher-end beauties out there, but this guitar was hard to put down. I couldn't find anything wrong with this one, & you can't beat the price.

.It's hard to judge a guitar this cheap because, how what can you really expect? It sounds a lot better than you think it will, and it's fun to play. It doesn't hold tune very well... I spent a tiny bit and put in better tuners. The saddles are annoying, because you have to fish the strings through. But the reality is, for a guitar this price, it sounds amazing. I bought it to leave at my practice space so I don't have to worry about a nice guitar being stolen... If you just need an extra guitar, don't think twice about it.
Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special Electric Guitar Butterscotch Blonde
.A lot of the previous reviews have mentioned the fret edges were rough. They were right, but using a small flat file gently, I had the edges smoothed in less than 5 minuets. There was also a very slight bow in the neck that an 1/8 th turn on the truss rod solved. Other than that the guitar was nicely set up. The action was nice and I didn't have to touch the bridge at all. There is one thing else. The neck is awfully white, but after a few coats of oil the color is beginning to mellow yellow.
I bought the guitar to round out my colletion of guitars I use in my studio. It sounds like any of the other Tele's I've owned. It looks solidly built and I'd have no problem using it onstage.
Overall, it does what any guitar is supposed to do. It plays well, it feels good and the electronics are solid. For the price you can't ask for anything else.
