The Schecter Omen-8 Electric Guitar offers an unbelievable range of notes for the modern guitarist. Equipped with two additional strings below the standard low-E, the Omen-8 adds a whole new dimension to your playing.
Maple neck and basswood body
Maple has a uniform grain, it's strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a basswood body.
Rosewood fretboard
The most common fretboard, rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is fundamentally richer than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.
Schecter Diamond Plus pickups
Over wound coils with a ceramic magnet give this aggressive high output pickup the push that will send your amp over the edge. Made for crunchy rhythms and blistering leads, and perfect for drop tunings. This pickup will cut through the mix with ease.
Schecter tuning machines
These high quality tuners feature a classic design in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

well put together for the price, flawless finish and fitments, comfortable ergonomics and good tone quality. For the money this guitar cant be beat.
The Omen 8 is suprisingly playable. The fretboard is not so wide that its too uncomfortable. All the fret positions are fairly comfortable to reach, the frets are smooth on the edges and the action is not too high and not too low...basically just right. The tonehas some flexability, from a bright at the bridge to a soulful mellow at the neck and a nice combo of the two tones in the middle position. The clean sound is great for jazz types and the distorted bridge sound great for metal.
in a nutshell this is a great all around guitar. Slightly heavy on the strap and neck but this weight adds to a quality tone that you dont get with a light weight guitar.
No flaws in paint or finish, pots felt smooth and snug. Nicely put together.
for the price it cant be beat!

.As a nearly inexperienced guitar player, I wanted to get a guitar I could learn on yet still emulate some of the riffs of my favorite bands. This guitar is definitely a good starter 8-string for jamming in a garage.
I cannot speak to the pickups, electronics, blah blah blah as I have no authority or experience there, but what I do know is that the guitar is comfortable in my hands strapped over my shoulder. I'm a big guy (6'4" 320lbs) so the heavier weight people mention doesn't bother me in the least, and prevents me from feeling like I'd break it in my grasp. Contrary to my body size, I have short stumpy fingers, even so I can still comfortably barre across all 8 strings, and can reach the low string with ease. The fretboard doesn't look terribly much larger than any other guitar I've handled, and certainly doesn't look larger (and sometimes looks smaller) than the review videos of other 8-string guitars I've seen.

.I got this guitar a year ago, and was very pleased with it. the pickups did a good job at picking up notes equally, and tugged and chugged through high gained. The scale length is long enough to create some tension for the low strings but not too long for your hands if you're used to short scale lengths. The one problem I had with it is that the body is not curved for your arm whatsoever so it takes time before you get comfortable with it. One of the things I did want to point out is that you have to know about string gauges, and you can't just go buy one of the few 8 string packages they sell here. I sold this guitar a few months ago because I thought the scale length was too short. After further investigation I figured out it was because of the weird gauges on the ernie ball 8 string pack I bought here. So now I bought this guitar again with .010-.013-.017-.026-.036-.046-.059-.080 and now the low strings are able to keep up with the standard six strings.

.The guitar is really cool to play. I love the heaviness. I have still yet to get used to it after 6 months tho. I get sore joints the day after especially if I do any kind of exercises. I will usually play it tuned down a whole step. The pickups are not great but they'll do for now. My only major disappointment is that I can't make it my main guitar due to the wrist, thumb issues I get from playing it too much. I am tempted to try one of the Ibanez versions in light of this solely because I really do like the 8 string options and I hear they are really easy to play. This was definitely worth the try at the price I paid for it.

.I never expected that a four-hundred buck guitar would play so well. The neck is just amazing. Even with 8 strings the neck feels smooth and plays fast. I sometimes turn the tone knob down and play some jazz stuff and it sounds great. Very versatile guitar!

.I have to start off saying I love this guitar. I love music, I love every genre, jazz, metal, blues, ska, etc.
This instrument which I was very skeptical about, blew my mind. People said it was very heavy (and I bring a guitar every other day to school), but this guitar isn't that bad. The weight's distributed nicely. Also, my pickups weren't voiced as bad as people say. I have the white gloss finish of this guitar and it's stunning. It has this nice bouncy tone which I can play with to fit whatever my needs are. The pickups are a bit muddy, but I'll change em out whenever. It's not a big deal.
The surprising thing to me was the neck. This guitar is actually more comfortable to play than my Ibanez S420, I don't know why, it just is. My guitar didn't come with much problem, but the strings were way too light. I adjusted it to remove buzz of the low E. But, I'm going to order the DR 11 gauge Tite-Fit 8 string set and go get this professionally set up for maximum epicness.
Killer 8 string.

.This guitar is awesome. I got the walnut satin version and it is very nice. It's way less red than the pictures show; I'd recommend googling the guitar to see real pics of it. There were no problems with it upon arrival. The setup was almost perfect too.
The neck is very thin and easy to play on. However, being my first 8 string (and first Schecter), the width of the neck and the closeness of the strings has taken some getting used to, even after a month or so. Very hard to reach the last couple of fret, but going all the way up there isn't entirely necessary for everyone. The inlays are cooler than expected. They probably aren't pearl, but look like it.
Hardware wise, the controls work just fine. The tuners are better than I expected based on other stock tuners I've worked with from other brands. The pickups are fine i think, but I don't have any other 8 string pickups to compare them too either.
Overall great deal. The walnut satin finish on an 8 string really made the deal for me, but I was impressed with the overall quality for an entry-level-priced 8 string. I had read many forums looking for the best low cost 8 string and almost everywhere there were a few people mentioning the omen 8. Based on my experience thus far, I would definitely agree with them.

Second used guitar I've bought from MF and it's the second that arrived in great condition. Set up was great, strings had to be new. Darn thing was triple boxed. A customer for over a decade and MF just keeps hitting out of the park. Thanks again.

I've had this guitar for about 10 months and I must say that it is a great guitar, especially if you are looking for something different. This thing really brings out my creativity and there is just so many different tones to unlock with 8 strings. I have only ever played it through my Digitech rp500, and I use it primarily for recording. It's my go-to for heavy rhythms. It sounds great clean as well. It plays so smoothly. Sometimes the low string can get muddy, but for me that is expected and it doesn't bother me all that much. Overall it's a great instrument, fun to play, and you won't regret it.
