The good news, the strings are OK. They sound good, are what they are and, for the price, could be considered for budget minded performers.
The bad news, the strings are not made in USA. Fender, D'addario, Gibson, Pearse and so on make the effort to manufacture their stings here in the United States. Martin makes their strings, and now some of their instruments, outside the US. At a time when we need to pick up our economy and provide jobs for people in the United States, I cannot, nor will not, buy Martin strings ever again.

.I had used Martin Extra Light strings for fingerstyle guitar playing. I bought Custom Light strings as a way to transition to Light gauge. So far, they are just as easy on my fingers as Extra Light. I like the sound too. I'm going try Light gauge next. If Light gauge doesn't work out, I'm going to use Custom Light instead of Extra Light.

.I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and have used many different brands of strings. I mostly used Martin strings for a while and then switched to GHS because they seemed to be tougher than the Martin strings I was using. It really is problematic when a string breaks during a live song as a solo performer. The GHS strings I was using seemed to become more difficult to acquire so the search was back on. I tried these (M535) and Martin Bronze of similar gauge. I personally like the tone of these better. They hold their brightness for a reasonable amount of time, are durable, and priced well. I use them on all my acoustic guitars from beginner priced laminates to a pair of solid wood Martins.

.After trying dozens of different brands of strings I keep coming back to Martin phosphor bronze custom lights. They have a very good balance of playability and warmth and I find the bass to be a bit deeper with these Martin M535 Traditional Phosphor Bronze strings than with the SP MSP4050's.
From a pure tone point of view, at least on my Martin D-28, I think the Martin Marquis Lights sound the best overall. Very deep bass and sweet, not shrill highs, but (after 30 years of trying) I just can't seem to play the .012's as well as the .011's.
So for now (until Marquis PB become available in .011's) I find the Martin Traditional M535 the very best strings for me.
Hope this helps in your decision making process! :)

.I prefer Custom Lights as lights are too heavy and extra lights break easier and do not last long.
These are fantastic strings for the type with a long life, consistent tone and much stronger than extra lights.
If you intend to use these for recording, you need effects and other equipment to tighten up the tones. Other Phospher Bronze strings are cheaper, but do not have the longer lasting tone quality as these do.

.After using Fender's 12-52 on my Squier SA-100 for the last 3 months , I needed a change because while they sounded good, I found myself changing sets every 4-5 days which was costing me money. I ended up buying a 6 pack of these Martins which came in last week and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of them. They have just the right amount of highs and bass for my guitar and excellent sustain as well. Plus they're long lasting and stay in tune as well. I do believe I've found my string of choice and plan on staying with these from now on.

.These are great strings. Good tone and I like them for the ease of string bending. Excellent for finger picking. I used to use the Martin 140's but since I changed to these they are are my Go To strings.
Listen UP.

.Great strings for a great price. They sound wonderful.
I was recently given a Pete Townshend signature J200 that desperately required new strings. This being my first high dollar acoustic guitar, I wanted it to sound and play great. I chose Martin M535 Traditional Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Strings because of the Martin reputation and price. I was not disappointed. They are crisp on the high end, yet deliver the bass sound I was looking for. Highly recommended. I'll buy them again!

The sound is just what I was looking for... and what I got.
These are the first "true acoustic" strings I've ever purchased.
