Product Description

Gauges 10-12-16-23-10.

The name Vega has been synonymous with fine quality-crafted banjos since 1889. Their combined experience in instrument making, string winding, and comprehensive sound testing make Vega strings the best choice for your banjo. All raw materials are of premium quality to assure brilliance, clarity, and longevity. We have selected a nickel/steel alloy for its tonal qualities which are best suited to accent the strong resonating tendencies of most banjos.

In addition, Vega strings are highly resistant to corrosion. The smooth consistency of the wrap wires makes them ideal for all styles of banjo playing, whether it be the short, snappy plectrum style; the quick, flowing Scruggs style; or the rhythm driving frailing technique.

Your strings are the origin of your sound. Commit to quality. Order now.

I have tried all the strings onthe market and these are hands down the best value, performance and sound in my humble opinion. I tune them up full speed and let 'er rip. They last fairly well, not brain-surgery just banjo-pickin'. Try them you'll like them.........Doc

.I MEANT TO BUY THE LIGHT GAUGE.... MY BAD, BUT THEY GAVE THE BANJO A MORE MELLOW SOUND. NOW I KEEP ONE BANJO WITH LIGHTS AND ONE WITH MEDIUM STRINGS JUST TO GET A TONAL CHANGE. IT WORKS FOR ME!!!

.I've tried almost every string out there.
They are almost all worthy; but for
Tone, longevity, Pop, I always wind up back
with the Vega medium gauge.
Gauge is a personal choice, this is mine,
guage the strings for your playing style and
your banjo. Mine sounds like an arch ring
with 10-20s, sounds like pre-war with 10-23
The inside mix on the Vega mediums gives
My axe the sound and drive I like.

.I don't know a whole lot about banjos. I'm just trying to get them to tune my banjo so I can learn to play. I play guitar, so I was trying to use the same principle to string it. Once I figured out how...the loops (which I don't like) were to small. I had to try to stretch them. Once I got it to stay on there, I went to put it on the tuner. It popped off, twice! Then finally he loop just broke. So I just threw the strings in the case and shut the case. Fail.

.I just put the Martin Vega medium gauge strings on my banjo, and I am impressed with the results. Here are the details. A larger-diameter ("fatter") string gives a fatter sound. In my opinion, detuning a stringed instrument increases the resonance of the sound. Previously, I used low-tension strings at full pitch. For the ideal tone:I installed these, detuned one fret, and I am really impressed with the result. It gave me both the tone and resonance I was desiring. I would try this technique also for a bluegrass banjo, if you want a warmer sound. Also, you can try tuning up to full pitch, but I am always cautious of using thick strings at full pitch. I am ordering more right now!

.While I haven't been playing banjo long, I've been around the block a few times musically. I put these on my lower end Gold Tone 5-string, and I like the tone. Bright and pretty full sounding. I'd likely buy again.

.What can I say? The strings are great.
