It is one of the very few (mostly RCA) mics to have a labyrinth system/acoustic chamber to provide correct back-load to control cardioid pattern. Unlike RCA this is a fixed pattern mic, which is much more optimized in term of both, frequency response, tonal balance, and "correctness" of the pattern.
