I bought this as my first 7-string guitar just to get a feel for them. I was expecting to upgrade to a prestige series shortly if I liked it, but I have to say this is a quality guitar for the price. It plays smooth, the thin neck is killer, and it came setup perfectly out of the box. I will probably change the pickups eventually, but the stock pickups aren't bad by any means..they're just average. That is the only reason I'm giving this guitar 4 stars, everything else is great! A great guitar for the price!
Ibanez RG Series RG7421 7-String Electric Guitar Black
.For my first 7 string guitar I wanted something that was playable, affordable and would not be a huge monetary lose if I lost interest.
After much research I decided on the Ibanez RG7421. I have an Ibanez RG652 and an RG655 and really love those guitars. I purchased this perticular RG7421 as blemished at a price I could not resist.
I received the guitar expecting some small pick scuffs on the body as described online but this guitar is cosmetically perfect!
The guitar required minor setup out of the box as most guitars do. This guitar could be a good platform for modding and upgrades in the future. But for now, its perfect for me.
It took several days to get used to the feel of the 7. At first play I had my doubts but after several practice sessions something just kicked in.. My doubts have vanished.
I consider myself to be intermediate, not a professional musician.

.Interested in 7 strings? Ibanez, the masters of extended range bring a very comfortable experience to new 7 string players, as I am. The guitars light, sounds nice and hot with the factory pickups and provides an easy transition to branching 6-stringers.

the guitar is amazing. the pickups are servicable so its not like you need to swap them unless you just want to.. came with new set of daddario strings (which i had to replace with lower gauges) and the volume knob is KINDA in the way... im learning to work around it tho.. so far its stayed in tune and i just opened it from the box about 3 and half hours ago and had to tune it once! its fantastic and definitely worth the money!
Ibanez RG Series RG7421 7-String Electric Guitar Black
.I have been using this model with the tremolo for over a decade and it is a dependable guitar. An integral part are the Quantum pickups. They are powerful as well as versatile with a 5 way switch with coil tapping. This is an amazing guitar that is an easy transition to a 7 string, without sacrificing any playability.
Ibanez RG Series RG7421 7-String Electric Guitar Black
.Alright so I personally don't know much about electrics and whatnot, but I'm learning. This is my first purchase and it has felt great. I own another Ibanez Electric/(& Acoustic) and by experience with playing around, Ibanez and Les Paul's have been my favorites. This guitar is exactly what i wanted. The neck is slick and feels great. I bought some cobalt strings to go with it but haven't tried them on yet, which I might try soon since the strings go a little out of tune with how hard I pick them. (lower gauge strings yeah?) I don't know much technical stuff but hey. It feels great to me.
