The AM53 features a sapele top, back and sides in resonant transparent flat finish. The fingerboard is rich rosewood contrasted by white dot inlays, set to a slim mahogany set-in neck that has proven its reliability on thousands of Ibanez hollow and semi-hollow bodies throughout the years. Infinity R pickups feature warm, balanced articulation and excellent response for various music genres. Case sold separately.

I really like the neck on this guitar. Its not to thin or too thick (just perfect). The tuners were just O.K. I upgraded with Gotoh Locking Tuners but I do that with all my guitars .I bought the transparent black although it looks more chocolate brown. But I'm not complaining. I love the finish. I'm finding some great tones on this instrument through my Roland Cube 40GX. The set up was pretty good out of the box. I had to raise the action slightly and tweak the intonation on a couple of strings. One note, the guitar does get quite twangy when the tone knob is past.two. So I usually keep it set low. Turned up It might be good for some country licks, not my style. I'm satisfied with my purchase. It's perfect for a hobby player like me.

.Never really cared for "flat" finished guitars, but I could see a Tobacco finished AM53 in my music arsenal. I'm no stranger to Ibanez guitars & highly regard them. I currently own 1 solid bodied Ibanez electric & couldn't be more pleased with her. Once I have her gone through & maybe added a couple of "hotter" pups, she'll be an ideal "rocker!"
