The acoustic-electric MulitOud Encore Nylon SG from Godin Guitars lets you take the oud, an ancient 11-string instrument with origins in the Middle East, to places it's never gone before. With an innovative design that includes an EPM Quantum 1T electronics system with undersaddle transducer, you can plug in and be heard in a crowd or over the mix in a band situation, but more importantly you have volume, bass, and treble control via the onboard preamp, right at your fingertips.
The oud is traditionally hard to keep in tune. But with this intelligently crafted reworking by Godin, you have custom machine heads and a bulit-in chromatic tuner to make that issue a thing of the past. While the first ouds were pear-shaped and had a bulbous back to them, the MultiOud has a more modern flat-back style and even gives you a cutaway in the upper bout for better access to the entire fretboard.
The two-chambered Canadian Laurentian basswood body and solid cedar top offer ample projection when you aren't plugged in, and its rosewood fingerboard and bridge give it a nice, naturally beautiful aesthetic. All in all, this is one instrument that is sure to turn heads and turn more people on to the distinct sound of the oud. Includes gig bag.

This Oud is very well made. The craftsmanship is amazing. It doesn't sound like my custom made floating bridge Iraqi Oud. But it is perfect to be used in a live band setup, it "rocks"! No feedback, easy to tune and if you Add Reverb and EQ, well you get impressive results. The face of the Oud (Soundboard) is made of Cedar wood, warm indeed to compensate the "not that great pickup system" compared to the Multioud Ambience. The fretboard is wider than any traditional Oud, meaning easier to play!!! I would love to have the more expensive MultiOud Ambiance, but I cannot afford it now :-/
check this video I made to know how it sounds. For the demo I have used a good old Yamaha Aw4416 as a mixer. Applied Chorus and reverb... Recorded Directly via my Apogee Duet 2 to Cubase 7
Enjoy and hope that was helpful!

Godin MultiOud Encore Nylon SG Acoustic-Electric Natural SG
.I was already aware of the generally high build quality of Godin instruments. But I bought it not for use as an oud but as a fretless nylon electroacoustic, for which this is significantly less expensive than their top of the line offering.
An oud is strung roughly like a guitar except the higher five strings are doubled.
Unlike most guitarists I'm not as fussy about tone so I can't speak for how you will or won't enjoy the sound of this guitar. This does not sport Godin's highest end pickup and onboard preamp (as in their amazing Multia Duo midi/analog hybrid machine). For instance, Godin puts a specific pattern of holes on the soundboard of their guitars to make space for a fancy multi-level equalizer, but on this one there is no aside from basic volume, tone and bass pots, accessible on the side.
Note that when the preamp appears to be "off" (unlit) is when there's sound traveling down the patch cable. When it's turned on it is mute, and functions as an electronic tuner. Make sure to check that when you first plug in!
So far I love the feel and solidity of this and look forward to playing it much more.
