I was looking to replace the tuning keys on my telecaster that had come with standard tuning keys. I was skeptical of whether or not the vintage keys would fit my tele so I called musicians friend tech support. The girl who took my call assured me that the keys would fit. When I tried to install the vintage keys on my tele I had no luck. The eyelets fall through the holes. I'm not saying these are bad keys, I'm just letting you know they won't fit the holes drilled for the standard tuning keys.

.The first thing I want to cover is fitment. After reading previous reviews, I called Fender support and found out for these to replacement the Fender Modern keys you need to replace the bushings with oversize 10 mm. Recommended source Steward-Macdonald. I got the busings, but added one round of masking tape for tighter fitment. Worked Great!! Vintage slotted keys look great and so easy to re-restring.

.These tuners are only for pegheads that have pressfit bushings not the nut kind. Thats why the other guys had problems because they have non old guitars only vintage and reissues would have the holes to fit these. Hope i was of some help

.these tuners are only for vintage diameter holes not modern ones thats why the other guys had problems with theirs. These are very very good tuners. vintage pegheads have press fit bushings the newer ones have nut-style bushings and are bigger than the old ones. Hope I was of some help.

.They give my Strat project that vintage look and feel.
Same parts on my Jaguar.
For use on a standard strat: use Kluson 10mm bushings and drill the screw holes on the back of the headstock.

.First off, you can't find these at any old music store, so save yourself the trouble and order them online now.
Second, the grooves for the string were shallower than what they replaced, so stringing the guitar was more difficult with these. However, once the strings are tight, everything is fine.

.Yeah I'll give Fender this. These look really cool, but thats the only good thing about them. First of all, they didn't fit the holes that were originally in my strat. All the eyes just sit loose and fall you whenever I pop a string. Secondly, they do make it easy to restring. The top of the tuners are open, leaving nothing to keep the string from coming out until its tight. On my Les Paul I can put all new strings on in 5 minutes. With these its more like 30. Although they keep your guitar in tune fine and look cool. They are not convenient at all. I recomend avoiding these.
