Hendrix was the master of fuzz, an artist with many subtle shadings at his command. His love affair with the legendary Fuzz Face pedal began in the early days of the Experience and continued to evolve throughout his brief but blazing career. The Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face is a meticulously faithful reproduction of the 1969-70 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face that Jimi used on classic albums like Band of Gypsys. Dunlop's engineering department examined hoards of vintage Fuzz Faces, honing in on a few units which possessed that unmistakable Jimi voodoo. The Hendrix Fuzz Face is built around the toneful BC108 silicon transistor. It is authentic in every detail, a handwired brown circuit board with no solder mask and circuitry carefully matched to the original specs. The look is 100% accurate too, that groovy circular chassis with tooled clones of the original Fuzz Face knobs in the rare and vintage turquoise hammertone finish.

Well after I bought the Red Germanium version I had to try this one. I really like this one, it is in my opinion a happy medium of the Blue and the Red. It's is warm/ darker like a germanium but has the bite of the Silicon. It cleans up very well for me, of course I max the volume and run the fuzz at 75-80%. Out of the three mini's I bought, this one didn't have to have the bias pot tweaked, it was perfect right out of the box.
It is dark but it has enough bite that it cut through in practice with another guitarist using a Fuzz Face.
If you're choosing between this and the mini blue one I'd definitely play them both side by side because although they both use the 108C they have very different tones/ feels.
Bottom line I love this pedal and plan on using it...ALOT!!!

.This is a very faithful reproduction of the regular version. I ran them side to side and the differences were slight.
But... if also has the same limitations as the original- it is not as responsive to the guitar's volume knob as the Germanium and there is a definite need to boost your mids..
The solid build, the pedal board friendly size and battery compartment are definite improvements and really, the sound is pretty much uncompromised.
Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Mini Turquoise Guitar Effects Pedal
.This Fuzz Face offers a nice option to either going without an effect or using a Tubescreamer on my "66 Strat thru a low wattage Marshall DSL. It cleans up completely via the guitar volume knob (even with the unit on) and gradually adds that Hendrix almost clean, but minuscule distorted tone, increasing until guitar volume 8 (think Monterey Pop). After 8, it suddenly massively roars (I wish the graduation was not so sudden, but it is not a problem) and sounds great (think Spanish Castle Magic). I bought it upon reviewers indicating its tone is between the red and the blue versions. I do not like effects on my non-Strat guitars, so I won't comment on such. As I seem to always say, I should have bought one of these years ago. Tip for those unaware: Do not run Fuzzes and Tubescreamers thru the effects loop -- rather, do it the old fashioned way so you can attain overdrive and get the tones you are supposed to hear.
