Always loved the look of SGs, but couldn't (and wouldn't) afford a Gibson. I never thought EE-Epiphone-e would be a good investment, boy was I wrong. This guitar played fine right out of the box with low action just like I like it. The strings on it were so-so, and in time I changed to Ernie Ball super slinkys, and wow, what a nice difference. This solid guitar even has a great unplugged acoustic ring to it for quiet practice. It just feels so darn good to hold and play. A professional musician pal of mine who's been around the block for decades hammered out some riffs on my Epi SG and said, and I quote: "I dont think my Gibson plays any betetr than this, this is a really nice guitar." So that told me I wasn't just loving it becasue I bought it, no it's a fine guitar. I love SGs how they're so much easier to fret up high than any other guitar, even my Les Paul. It's like the neck is set out a couple frets more than the others. I love it. The pups are fine to me, and I really love the coil tapping, it's as if you have 2 guitars in one. With the single coil sound you can get some great attack and nice twangy country lead, and of course the Alnico Classic humbuckers will give you face-melting distortion assuming you have a good amp setup. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. It really makes you feel like you bought a Gibson in both appearance and functionality, EE-Epiphone-e has come a long way.

.I've been through plenty of guitars in my day. No, I'm not going to sit here and say I'm some master professional who has been playing for 60 years, but when it comes to guitars, I know what the deal is.
Ordered this guitar in the cherry finish, and it is absolutely beautiful. However, the pick guard is not the same style as pictured, but the smaller one. Can't complain, though, I actually like the look a little better.
I'm really digging these new pups that EE-Epiphone-e has come out with. They closely resemble Gibson 57's in a way, but not exact. But, for stock pickups, you really can't beat them. I definitely won't mind waiting to replace them.
I have barely used the coil-split function yet, but when I have, it's a very fun function. It doesn't give you the same single-coil tone as a p90 would, but still has that familiar twang to it. Very nice additive. Sounds great clean, crunchy, and distorted.
I really like the Wilkinson tuners. I have yet to have a problem with it going in and out of tune, and they are really light and easy to fine-tune. The look of them is also a plus.
The action right out of the box is very nice. However, I would prefer mine a little lower, but that's nothing a professional set-up won't take care of.
All in all, this guitar is extremely fun to play, feels great from the moment you pick it up, and feels solid enough to last a long while. I am having no second thoughts and do not plan on returning. Recommended for sure!

I just bought this last week and the second day I had it I sat in with a Band that has a guitar player nicknamed "skypup"....His 67 original and my brand new Epi....playing difference? proab just the difference between touches more than the guitars.
This guitar needs no "affordable" or " instead of" disclaimers. Bring what You want and She will stand right in there! I have been playing both Pro and Semi-Pro for way over 40 years, and this is a SPECIAL Guitar!

.I bought the G-400 PRO Cherry because of the coil tap pickups. Using either pickup alone, with the coil tap, I found the sound to be thin. However, with both pickups on and the bridge pickup with the coil tap, the sound is wonderful to my ears.
I have been playing guitar for 47 years, and this is easily the best sounding electric guitar I have ever owned. I own other EE-Epiphone-e electrics, but I had to hotrod them with Gibson pickups. This one did not need such!

.I used to own Gibson SG had to sell it . I regeret ever selling it as it was a great guitar . Now years later and much older I wanted to play again and the G400 pro was affordable and almost as good as my Gibson . It sounds great and has a nice neck. It's made me want to pick it up every day and play.

.I bought this guitar because i used to own the actual Gibson SG Standard, back in the day. So when I got it, I wasn't expecting too much, mainly becaue of the very innexpensive price tag. Well, that changed the moment I got it into my hands and plugged it in. This thing rips! It has an immaculate clean sound through my Randall. I added just a touch of Overdrive and Chorus to it, and it sounds just like a Gibson. And now, for the distortion. Plain and simply, I have never had a guitar that would sound good through vintage distortion AND modern "metal" type distortion.
As I said, I used to own it's Gibson counter part, and except for it not having the neck binding that the Gibson has, I can find very little differences between the two. Even my professional musician friends love to play it on stage!

.I used to have a Gibson SG Standard, back in the day. I bought this particular model with no real big expectations. Well, then changed when I got it out of the packaging, and into my hands. THis plays and sounds just as good as my Gibson did. The weight feels the same, the beck feels the same, etc. The only difference is that the neck isn't bound like its Gibson big brother. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone! It has a great clean sound with a little chorus added to it, and the distorted sound....wow! This thing can purr like a kitten through an Overdrive affect, and tear it up when distorted!

.I bought this guitar used a few months back and I got to say, best guitar decision I ever made. I've played a few gigs with this one and it was the only one I needed. The coil splits make the guitar good for anything from hard rock to even pop songs. It's definitely a staple in my arsenal.

.A few small rough places on the fret board edge, not really noticeable until I changed the stock strings to new ones. Frets needed polishing. Intonation I needed a tweak or two. Now the good news. Plays very well with a good setup from the factory.overall fit and finish is very good. Pickups sound awesome. Love the versatility of the coil tap system. This guitar is a very good value. I'm a happy customer so far.
Epiphone G-400 PRO Electric Guitar Ebony
.This is a very nice guitar and sounds great. But I think putting PRO in the model is not realistic. For an advanced player you may consider a real Gibson SG. After one week of playing it I noticed a couple things that should be taken into consideration. The neck is flexible. Lifting or moving the guitar causes a minor tuning shift. Not sure if an adjustment to the neck would fix this. The other thing has to do with the knobs. I noticed that if I tried a combination of tones you can put the guitar in a state where there is no sound in the middle position. By shifting the knobs around it comes back. I think there's a minor bug in the electronics. But don't be dismayed. This is one heck of a good sounding guitar. It comes with a factory checklist. They've checked for fret buzz and a bunch of other things. If your on a budget and can overlook these issues buy it with confidence. MF took this back no questions asked. I upgraded to an entry level Gibson.
