The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt celebrates one of EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's most original and treasured designs with a beautiful custom AAA quilt maple veneer top. When the Nighthawk was first introduced in 1993, it was a truly modern guitar--a complete departure from "tradition" with its 25.5" scale length and its versatile combination of coil-tappable humbucker and single-coil pickups.
Breakthrough designs don't always catch on right away. Such was the case with many now-iconic guitars, including the Flying-V, the Explorer and even the Les Paul. But original Nighthawk fans knew it was a supremely versatile axe that made it possible for one player to sound like a dozen different guitars at the flip of a switch. And today, a new generation is discovering the Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt and its powerful pickup combination and beautiful finish.
Classic Tone Woods and a Custom Quilt Top
The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt is essentially a combination of an SG (with a lower bout and thinner body) and a Les Paul (upper bout). And just like those classics, the new Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt features a solid mahogany body (with added "belly" scarf for comfort) and an exquisite AAA quilt maple veneer top. The hand-glued mahogany neck has a SlimTaper D-shape profile and the original Nighthawk's famous 25-1/2" scale for a well-rounded, warm tone with excellent sustain. The headstock is back-angled at 14 degrees, which increases pressure on the strings and helps them stay firmly in nut slots for stable intonation and tuning. To add brilliance as well as a smooth, durable playing surface, the EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt is fitted with a rosewood fingerboard, a favorite of serious guitar players for its resistance to wear.
A Dozen Guitars in One
The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt allows players the ability to cover all the classic sounds of rock, pop, jazz, and country in one guitar. The Nighthawk features a unique pickup combo that includes a full-size NHTTM humbucker (bridge), a NSXTM single-coil (middle) and a NHRTM mini-humbucker (neck). When combined with the 5-way slider and push/pull coil-tapping tone knob, the 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt offers you nine different "tones" at your fingertips--from a powerful and warm humbucker to the unique clarity of a mini-humbucker to a thin, bright single-coil--and everything in-between. The Alnico II pickups are double-wax-potted to avoid microphonics at high volume and can be dialed-in with a single volume control. The master tone control features a push-pull switch to split the coils of the bridge pickup, allowing for quick and unique tone changes. And don't forget, the Nighthawk's nickel bridge with its "string-thru" body design ensures maximize resonance and sustain. The bridge also features individual saddles for independent height and intonation adjustment.
Killer Looks, Premium Features
One of the first things you notice about the Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt is the gorgeous, AAA quilt maple veneer top and the pearloid "crown" inlays on the fingerboard. The EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e Ltd. Ed. 2014 Nighthawk Custom Quilt is available in your choice of Translucent Black, Translucent Purple, Translucent Blue, and Translucent Red. And, the 2014 Nighthawk comes with premium 18:1 ratio Grover machine heads for excellent tuning accuracy and stability while EE-EE-Epiphone-e-e's heavy-duty output jack and long-lasting 1" potentiometers make for worry-free operation.

I had been wanting one of these for a long time so I finally bought one. It came in on time but when I got it, it had 2 small what looked like scratches on the neck, which I could live with as my ring may cause a scratch anyway. Turns out after a few weeks the scratches were not scratches but small cracks from the head stock to 2.5 " down the neck. I returned it, and was told the warranty didn't cover the repair of the guitar? It had only been played maybe 5 times and sat on a stand the rest. The neck is cracked and will eventually break. MF told me they would repair it for an amount of money but you can't put that am down or they flag you for profanity? Baloney on that.....what a bunch of baloney. I have purchased a lot of products from MF and I can't get a refund, different guitar that isn't broken, or a credit? It was obviously a flaw in workmanship my area luthier even saw it. Now I have a expensive (for me) piece of junk. I have ben in this type of business before and know what one upset customer can do , even when you have hundreds of satisfied customers. I know they could write this off and give me another guitar, its just good business practice to keep your customer base happy. If I don't get satisfaction I will NEVER buy anything from MF again and will tell all my musician friends not to buy from them as well. Come on MF do whats right and help out a struggling musician, I am retired and live on a budget, is this anyway to treat your customers? Very disappointed in you..

.I was so disappointed. I had heard good things and this guitar is nothing but horrible. Maybe it was just a bad day in China. I called Custom Guitar's Friend and got ridiculed because I actually know a bit about guitars.
No help at all. I worked on this poor thing for hours ... it is just in the closet because Custom Guitar' Friend, sales guy will be nameless but he knows , left me hanging.

.This is the same guitar as mine, which is amber in color. The people who have played this say that whatever I paid, it was not enough! As mentioned, the only weak spot of this guitar would be that the mini & full-sized humbuckers leave something to be desired. I switched over to a Seymour Duncan 4 conductor mini humbucker and a Seymour Duncan angled JB-4 for the bridge humbucker. I also added a push-push switch to the tone pot to allow the two humbuckers to be in parallel to each other, which also means that all 3 pick-ups can be played at the same time.
This guitar comes with a 25.5" scale (like most Fenders) and thru-body stringing (like a Tele). A joy to play, great neck and frets. Very good looking as well, with the binding for both the body and neck. Nice light weight! Huge sonic variations for all genres of music. The #4 position on the pup selector, when having the bridge in single coil, sounds like a Strat!

.Full disclosure, I already own the Blues Hawk but wanted it's 'cousin' the Nighthawk also. Both in blue, beautiful guitars. The Nighthawk is more of a rocker with louder pickups. Pickup configuration is the same as the Gibson from many years ago: looks quirky but I like it just fine: nine different sounds. Neck mini-bucker is round enough for jazz, middle single single coil sharp enough for country and the bridge humbucker fine for rock. You can mix and match with the coil splitting and get some faux strat sounds. It's not a strat, tele, or Les Paul though, very much it's own thing. If you want those guitars, buy them. But you will not be disappointed with this guitar. Neck, frets, tuners, electronics all good. Some reviewers have complained of weak pickups. Not me, (basement hobbyist) these sound just fine. Astonishing value for the price.

.Been looking at one of these for a while. I have a pile of guitars and really don't need another but I liked the fact this has a small, Les Paul style body with a 25 1/2" scale. Wow.....really nice, balanced guitar. I like that its very light. I just joined a cover band and will be doing 2 and 3 sets a night, plus the pickup configuration gives this guitar a wide variety of sounds. It just feels nice in my hands while standing and playing....it's compact. My normal main guitar is one I built 30 years ago and I purposely set the neck further into the body to make it shorter, this guitar does the same thing but still has full 22 fret reach! I did make two changes, I installed a Seymour Duncan pickup in the bridge and a set of Schaller keystone machine heads because I like the look and the plastic knobs lighten the headstock. The grovers that come on it are quality units and work great though. This will be my new main guitar tuned to E for my cover project that I plan to play all night. I'll probably buy another for back up. It's a really nice guitar.

This guitar is very cool! The pickup configuration provides a wide range of tones, which allows the guitar to replace several others, which facilitates quicker flow to the show. It looks great too. The only problem I had was set-up. My luthier had to shorten most of the springs in the saddle, and move the bridge as far back as was allowed by the construction. The strings now have to go up through the ferrules and then slightly backward before going through the bridge and over the saddles. This makes changing strings difficult and time-consuming.

.Although the back-order wait time about drove me nuts, the wait was well worth it; It not only plays quite fine, it is also one real pretty guitar, Kudos to the person who did the finish, not one blemish to be found, I have always liked EE-Epiphone-e, One of my main acoustics is an AJ-200,

Sure, it looks a little funky, but the variety of tones available is outstanding. If you're a collector, look elsewhere. If you're a gigging musician that needs a variety of tones to give the right sonic color to your set list this would work well. Also, since the price is so reasonable, you could bring this to your less-than-stellar bar gigs and not worry if you have to use it as a defensive weapon when the drunks attack.

.Great guitar - glad I got it. Many tone options with the three pickup configuration and the coli tap. Played very well with the factory setup right out of the box. Not a huge fan of the gloss finish neck usually I prefer a satin or unfinished neck, but this is plays very well. Good sustain. I would buy this again, I have over 60 electric guitars in my collection, and this is becoming one of my favorites.

.THIS IS A VERY NICE GUITAR AND I LIKE IT BUT TO
BE HONEST I DON'T THINK UP TO THE SAME QUALITY
AS SOME OF EPI LES PAULS I'VE BOUGHT. ALSO IT'S
VERY NECK HEAVY AND DIPS BADLY. I ORIGINALLY
ORDERED THE TRANS BLUE AS IT WAS THE ONLY COLOR
AVAILABE BUT IT ARRIVED WITH A CHIP ON THE BACK.
RETURNED IT AND AS THE TRANS BLACK WAS AVAILABLE
ASKED IF COULD GET THAT. I REALLY LIKE IT MUCH BETTER,
