I use these footswitch with an alesis SR 16 drum machine. After trying 3 other footswitches, I finally found one that works great. It starts my drum machine as soon as I touch the switch--no delay. It stays in place and doesn't bounch around on the floor. Seems to be well made. Has a polarity switch to switch from latching to non-latching. Great footswitch.
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.I grabbed the Boss FS-5U Footswitch for use with my Boss BR-900CD, and it rocks! The compact metal casing and rubber bottom is very sturdy! The switch itself is made of plastic, but is still better than the Roland DP-2 that I was considering. I had also considered the Boss FS-6 dual pedal, but that model requires batteries or an AC adapter. The FS-5U requires neither, only needing a single 1/4" TS (mono) cable. The various foot switches that Boss makes can attach to the sides of one another, which is very convenient! However, this does create some sharp metal edges that can scratch other gear, so store it carefully. This is an excellent no latching footswitch, and I highly recommend it!
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.This pedal, with it's polarity switch, allows connection to all kinds of gear, drum machines, amplifiers, whatever takes a quarter inch input. It's rugged and dependable. Cool.
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.The FS-5u is a fine addition to the Boss DD-5, and is small enough to easily fit in small spaces on nearly any pedal board.
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
. Good quality, reliable and necessary device.
Solid aluminum housing. Well built. Polarity Switch. Non-latching Footswitch. It is what it is.
Good quality, well built, sturdy aluminum footswitch. It does exactly what it is supposed to do.
For a simple on/off type footswitch, I think the price is a little steep. I really could use a few more as I have applications in which these are a necessity, both non-latching and latching types. You could build your own using "Shack" parts quite cheaply, but you would probably "void" your warranty, especially if you are using them on Roland/Boss appliances. It is a lot easier, anyway, to just order them and wait a couple of days for them to show up at your door. It does "sadden" me a little every time that I order one, knowing that there are some "brands" of effects pedals that I could be buying for the same price or even less, but like I said these are a "necessity".
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.I recommend this pedal for all electric guitar players that have a boss delay. It's amazing, it can't get any better than this.
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.If you need a non-latching foot switch, just spend the extra few bucks for the Boss FS-5U. It's cheaper than taking someone to the movies next Friday night. I like the switchable polarity for various uses and it's comfy to use without shoes on. It's only sending a simple signal, so I used the crappy cable that came with my first guitar. It's wide and heavy enough to be stable on carpet and can hook right onto the Boss latching foot switch (FS-5L) that you will eventually need. It does have sharp edges , so be careful what it touches during transportation! Too bad it's made in China, but if only everything else in the music world could be made so well!
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.I just got this pedal and it works fine, although I did have to find a cable for it.You would think that they would include one with it.I also had to by the power supply for my BR600 (slso not included), and that has a ground hum. When I contacted Boss they said I may need a Power supply filter.I guess they expect us to make their product work .
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.I use this Boss pedal with my Alesis SR-16 drum Machine. Works great as a start and stop pedal. I play 3 to 4 times a week and will press the pedal hundreds of time during 1 week. Pedals are vey durable and last for several years even with the frequent use I give then. Great product by Boss. Great service by Custom Guitar's Friends.
Boss FS-5U Nonlatching Footswitch
.The footswitch was bought for use with an RC-2 pedal. The switch is small, and seems pretty sturdy. Works very well with the RC-2.
