Summary:
Made in the original Gibson acoustic factory in Kalamazoo Michigan. This Gibson Hummingbird is most definitely a rare bird. For the player and collector alike.
Neck:
Solid, straight and true three piece, laminated mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard offers great playability along with fast action. Gibson Hummingbirds of the 1970's had block inlays instead of dual parallelograms. The frets show some wear mainly on the first three frets, but there is no string buzz what so ever. The heel of the neck has an added strap pin for a more stable over the shoulder feel. The fingerboard is in top notch condition. Great player.
Body:
Mahogany back and sides have play wear. The back in particular shows various buckle rash marks and some burns in the finish. The blemishes can kind of be seen in pictures, they were hard to have show up. Spruce top has heavy pick marks above sound hole and on pick guard while not taking away any pick guard design detail.
Hardware:
Beautiful original Hummingbird pick guard is in great condition. Gibson machine heads are smooth and tune up with ease.
Case:
Original Gibson hard case is included in sale.
