The Cole Clark Angel is an all solid
timber grand auditorium, featuring a “Californian” Redwood Sequoia top and
Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides. The Redwood is slightly stiffer than
Western Red Cedar, a great top for softer players but also gives great
resonance for strummers as well as finger pickers. This is a stunning timber that
is sourced from Australia from trees planted 150 years ago.
It also features a cutaway and the Cole Clark 3 way pickup system.
The 3-way pickup system takes the
best of what you have always known about Cole Clark’s amplified acoustic
guitars, namely, this 3-way pick-up takes the Cole Clark face-brace technology
and adds a condenser microphone which, when combined with their proprietary
preamp that sets the crossovers at the optimal frequencies, allows you the
option of further clarifying high frequencies when you want to. Like the piezos
under the saddle and sensor in the face, the microphone’s range is shelved to
only hear the frequencies it’s best equipped to hear and has a pre-determined
crossover point, eliminating feedback and muddy tones.
Many of the Redwood tops we see
have a stripe of sapwood down the middle of the top; we hand picked this to
avoid and it has much nicer even coloring.
