Part of 's L Series of guitars, the LS16M is an all-solid wood guitar with hand-selected premium grade materials. This solid mahogany back/side variation is a perfect choice for players who are looking for more power and warmth.
A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. is an original wood reforming technology developed by . Through precise control of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years.
New Designed Bracing Pattern
A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L series' characteristic bright tone while enhancing low-end tone.
High Comfortable Traditional Neck Profile
A reevaluation of string spacing, string height, fingerboard binding, and neck taper led to a new neck shape that better fits today's traditional players. The new design offers stable grip and smooth playability over the full length of the neck.
5-Ply Necks
The 5-ply neck of mahogany and rosewood designed with a volute at the headstock plus a double action adjustable rod creates a neck with excellent strength and stability.
SRT Zero Impact Pickups
The SRT Zero Impact Pickup system is a newly developed passive type pickup configuration designed to minimize the pickup's impact on the tone and traditional appearance of the instrument. The system utilizes individual piezoelectric elements for each string to faithfully reproduce the dynamic sound of the L Series and give the instrument outstanding presence when playing in a band.

Opened the box when it arrived; then opened the case; then unwrapped the guitar from the shroud in which it had been wrapped at the factory. Tuned it up and was instantly disappointed. Sounded flat and lifeless. Gave it a week or so to sit on the couch and breathe. It came back to life. Very happy with the build, the look, the feel, and the sound. Initially, planning to return it to MF -- now after it had a chance to come back, will not do so. Thanks, MF! I'm proud of myself, too, for exhibiting the patience needed to give this fine instrument a chance.
Yamaha LS16M L Series Solid Mahogany/Spruce Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar
.I had high hopes for this guitar but ended up returning it. First it is very neck heavy. When playing in a sitting position it doesn't balance above your leg with the center of gravity being somewhere between the 7th and 12th fret. I didn't care for this. Secondly, and I don't know if it is the body shape (I'm used to dreadnoughts), but there was not much in the way of bass response. When fingerpicking the other notes were fairly balanced but bass lines seemed thin and lacking to me. I ended up returning this one and went with a taylor 210 instead.
