This is definitely not your run of the mill wah pedal. The design is unique. Its nice to no there are no moving parts to wear out. The sound itself is very usable in classic mode, when you engage the fuzz and the low pass things get really interesting. Being able to maintain the low end or clean signal of your bass mixed with the fuzz and the wah is a very nice bonus. I have had great luck using just the low pass and using an external distortion pedal in my effects chain.
The pedal itself is awkward when you first use it. It wants to slip on any carpeted surface. It is also easy without intending to rock it forward and turn off the effect. Things to keep in mind before you take it on stage for sure. Once you get comfortable with it should be no problem.
Overall the sound quality is good, the construction quality is excellent. This is a solid pedal like all EH pedals I have owned. The possibilities with it are still being discovered. Check youtube for the guitar version for some secret tips on how to calibrate it to get even more interesting effects. The same tips for the guitar version work on the bass pedal as well.
Overall happy with this pedal for what I wanted it suits my needs.
Electro-Harmonix Crying Bass Wah with Floating Anchor Effects Pedal
.Ingenious design!!Very easy to operate!Great wah without loss of volume or low end..EH has always made great distortion effects for bass..the distortion effect in this pedal is no exception.. adds exactly what I need to let the beast out!
Electro-Harmonix Crying Bass Wah with Floating Anchor Effects Pedal
.a little difficult to calibrate it. No users manual or instructions included in package. Probably cause I bought an open box item, . And no anchor plate in package. works better on carpet than a hard surface.
Electro-Harmonix Crying Bass Wah with Floating Anchor Effects Pedal
.Pros: Excellent EHX tone as expected. Down and funky.
The variable low pass feature is a great feature and sort of makes it worth it.
Well constructed and the "no moving parts" thing is a very good idea sort of.
Cons: EHX gets high marks for forward thinking but the whole idea does not play out well.
The "giant" function light is cool but is, obviously, covered by your foot.
The on/off function is hit or miss so it detracts from the performance (one more thing you have to
think about). I was continually whacking it to either turn it off or on. This needs to be rethought.
Fuzz function (for most bassists) is useless. The room needed for that circuitry could have been
used for something else like a "visible" on/off indicator light.
It moves all over the floor when you use it. I know the cradle is supposed to help with that but fails
(IMO).
I would love to see this pedal with a normal working mechanism like the Dunlop 105Q but
without the fuzz circuit and with a visible indicator light.
end result: Not for me, too much trouble so I sent it back.

.Really cool "Cliff Burton" bass sound. Awesome construction, great design
. It's just not easy to change settings during a performance.
