The Turnip Greens is a compact multi-effect pedal combining the award-winning Soul Food Overdrive and Holy Grail Max Reverb. The Soul Food delivers transparent sounds starting with clean boost and progressing all the way to intense overdrive. It's equally adept at adding punch to a player's tone, pushing an amp into saturation or in front of other dirt pedals driving them into new worlds of distortion.
The Holy Grail Max provides four carefully crafted reverbs: Spring, Hall, Plate and Reverse. A newly designed analog wet/dry control yields a constant volume curve as the Blend knob is turned from fully dry to fully wet, while also keeping the dry signal analog through the pedal. The pedal's left side features the Holy Grail Max's controls and independent footswitch while the right side is dedicated to the Soul Food's controls and footswitch.
A toggle effect-order switch, located in the middle of the Turnip Greens, selects whether the overdrive or reverb is first in the effects chain. Send and Return jacks let the player insert effects into the signal path between the two. With the switch to the right the signal chain is Soul Food †’ Holy Grail Max which produces a traditional sound familiar to most players. In the left position the signal chain is Holy Grail Max †’ Soul Food. Now the reverb is boosted by the overdrive which, when used in conjunction with pedals in the effects loop, can create very lush textures.
The Turnip Greens features an internal switch that lets the player select between true bypass or buffered bypass for the Soul Food section. In true bypass mode, when the Turnip Greens is set to bypass, the input jack is connected directly to the amp jack and nothing else. In buffered bypass mode, the bypass signal passes through a high-quality buffer circuit before it is output from the Amp jack.
The new Turnip Greens comes standard with an EHX 9.6-Volt/DC200mA AC Adapter.

Always heard a lot about the Holy Grail and the Soul Food pedals, and wondered what the fuss was all about. Found out.I have a half dozen od pedals ( Ts-808, BD,DOD) and they all have there place on the board, but this one has a different growl than the others. Not as brittle as the BD, yet not as smooth as the TS. Not overpowering, just the "right " amount. Needed a reverb pedal too.The Defender amp I use has Dark Vader spring reverb, but not on a foot switch. There is a switch that let's you choose between spring, hall, and plate reverbs, as well as a reverse reverb. The first three sound very good. Can't really find a use for the reverse though. Maybe it sounds different to me mites in Austrrrralia , since everything is supposed to be backwards down under. If I was stranded on a desert island and could only take one pedal, this would be it. Remember, life is too short NOT to have good tone!

.I have many pedals folks, ALL of them top sellers, highest rated, and even many boutique. I did NOT buy this pedal out of any major pedal needs. Most of the amps I own have spring and other reverb settings I like and need for playing the blues, country, and rock I like. I bought this pedal for two precise reasons: I wanted analog reverb for my Laney Ironheart 30w all tube 1x12, because it is a great sounding and extremely versatile amp that can do literally ANYTHING well, but it has horrible, weak digital reverb (WHY did they do that?). I also wanted switchable overdrive paired with reverb options for my Fender Bassbreaker 45w 2x12 rock and blues monster tank, because the amp is a reverb-less delight that also comes with no foot switch for its clean and bright channels. I watched the demos on the pedal that were out there and here, and started to get a good feeling. Wow, was this Turnip Greens the pedal to buy! Not only did it meet my specific needs for these two otherwise killer amps with their deficits, it also is one of the most useful and great sounding pedals in my handsome and expensive collection. The Holy Grail Max Reverb with 4 different "base" settings is to die for, and the Soul food OD is deliciously nasty, with great finger, pick, and attack response, for enticingly edgy leads or cutting-through rhythm. The input/output jack options, and switchable directionality of effects is totally useful, the large user-friendly controls so tweak-able for dialing in your own personally-tailored sound. I plugged this in to test it on a Vox AV-60 1x12 with a LP Traditional ax I am really digging lately, and I was so absorbed with the tones I was getting, that hours went by and I even skipped eating dinner. I finally shut everything down to use the bathroom, walking past my Zen cat audience on a music high sitting on the floor in front of my amp, and I said to myself: Why didn't I buy this pedal before this? I will now view other EHX products more seriously. Buy it

.Great pedal! Stellar reverb, really nice to have options in one unit. The spring and plate reverbs are over the top and easily compete with any Fender spring reverb out there. The overdrive is also amazing. You can go from sparkling, chime cleans to a saturated growl and everything between. I use this and an Alter Ego tape delay for FX and that's it... covers all the bases. Great for performance and also records beautifully!!! Thanks EHX!!!
