The B-4E Bass Guitar has beveled edges that reveal the contrast between the mahogany body and ebony top for a gorgeous, natural look all its own. Adding to this contrast of woods is the 5-piece neck-thru-body maple/mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard.
Ensuring you get the most from the tones these wood combinations provide are ESP SB-4 pickups (bridge and neck) with an ESP ABQ-3 3-band active EQ for extended tone shaping. Dial in more brightness on pop tunes or get more kick on the low-end when you're getting down and dirty on heavier tunes.
The neck is 34" scale with an extra-thin contour, and has a 42mm standard nut, and 24 XJ frets. Details include ESP tuners and an ESP BB-604 string-thru-body bridge in black nickel.

After considering some Ibanez and Schecter basses in the same price range I decided on the B-4E just because of overall quality and construction. This bass is beautiful, with mahogany body and ebony top with a 5 piece maple and ebony neck; everything about it makes me wonder ESP can sell it so cheap. It is a very easy instrument to play, very fast smooth neck with excellent access to higher frets. As far as electronics go, it has ESP passive pickups and a 9v active preamp that gives you full tonal control. I put a set of EMG DC's in mine with an Aguilar preamp and switched to 18v, and overall it still cost me less then a "higher end" bass would have. I would strongly recommend this bass to anyone, excellent quality and good stock electronics at an unbeatable price.

.I've been playing bass guitar for about 4, almost 5 years now. And right now I own a standard fender Mexican jazz bass. But with the price increase by fender, this bass is top of the line quality, the LTD B-4E I mean. The solid all one piece body is nice, along with the 5 piece wood. The neck is very slim, natural gloss, my fingers feel as if they are gliding across the back of the neck, the bridge is heavy, meaning good, string thru body feature is a plus. great tone, solid playing. And for what they price this, it's a steal for real. This plays just as nice, if not better as any american fender I would play. I think its better then a music man bass. Excellent, deff. check this one out.

.I bought this bass blind a while back because I wanted to treat myself to something different that I usually buy, without breaking the bank. This bass is outstanding on every level. The humbucker tone is fat and rich. It reminds me of a Wal bass - no joke. The design and construction are flawless. The playability and feel can't be compared to in its price range. I've played several styles of music with it, with the exception of Metal, but I think it would hold up just fine, tonewise.

.Great sound Great look amazing performance. This bass has it all. A differant natural look will set you appart from the other bass players of the night and you will always have ppl asking you where you got it. I live in hamilton ontario and there is only one esp dealer for the city and usually ppl ask me all about it.

.I began playing bass seriously about 3 years ago, & I started-out on a entry-level ESP B-Series bass. I loved how well that one played & felt for the little $ that it actually cost, so I've been eyeing the upgrade, this baby, for a long time. I finally ordered it here, and it arrived two days ago. Again, ESP has not disappointed. The photo here really doesn't do this bass justice, it looks so much sexier & more classy in person. I didn't know if the 3-band EQ was going to be that big of a difference from my last ESP which had a 2-band active EQ, but there is a noticeable benefit in how much more you can shape your tone. And of course, as with all of the B-series basses I've played, it feels super-comfortable around your shoulders, & the neck plays like a dream. That's really the most important thing in my opinion (especially on neck-thru guitars), & this bass plays better than any other bass I've picked up, no lie. I'm not a huge fan their guitars, but ESP basses are the best!

.I have played many basses and currently own a Rickenbacker 4001 which is a great bass. The Rick is very heavy and after a night of gigging the ole back gets a little sore. I bought this bass trying to find something a little bit lighter with decent tone and good playability. Well I pulled it out of the box not expecting much especially at this price but was totally and completely blown away. I went over this thing with a fine tooth comb trying to find a flaw any flaw. No flaws anywhere and the materials, finish and setup up was second to none. The darn thing was even in tune right out of the box very weird but awesome. Then I plugged it into the amp and the sound of this thing matches its looks totally awesome tone that covers a very wide variety of music styles. I cant wait to get this beast on stage and i bet the ole back will thank me for the lighter overall weight of the instrument not to mention the endless tones this guitar is capable of.

.Have expensive guitars and this stand at the top. This bass compares at $1500 with the thru 7 piece neck. I don"t even think thats advertised. Ebony Top. Electronics are awesome. Craftsmanship is awesome. I cant say enough.

.This bass is extraordinary. I can get a myriad of tones with the 3 selectors. Plus, it's absolutely stunning to look at. I have gotten rave reviews from my bandmates. It's not heavy, so your back and shoulders won't complain. Kudos to the fantastic MF Customer Service people, who replaced the first one damaged in transit. In short, an amazing bass for an amazing price. Highly recommended.

.I saw this bass ten months ago and bought it. I was a little terrified after that since I hadn't planned on getting a new bass, but then it showed up. Web pics don't do it justice, it looks amazing in person. The neck / body layers of different woods is just awesome. One quick note - the only reason I took points off for quality is actually a problem I've noticed with my other LTD (a five year old EC-300) and my former bass player dealt with on both of his LTD basses: pots. The pots on these guitars will loosen up on you at some point. It is annoying, yes, but also a very easy fix, allen wrench, pop the knob off and tighten the pot. Back to the quality of this bass - a good friend has a music man stingray - costing more than twice what this one does, and this LTD is of the same quality. Also this bass does have the re-enforced neck / head joint as many LTDs do, another plus. Also, the bridge design is very cool - you can string through the bridge OR the body for thicker tone / higher tension at lower tunings. The tone, the sound - serious tone shaping capabilities here - 3 band eq plus a volume and balance knob - the knobs with the click in the middle. The active pickups sound great! I run this bass directly into a Hartke vx3500 combo, and I can get any bass sound I want (except distortion, no bass fx yet). Go for a classic bass sound, or dial the balance and treble for the Tool / Justin Chancellor sound. You can get that type of tone definition from this bass. Overall this bass has value, when I bought it I didn't find another one with the features / price ratio. stop drooling and get it!
