I'm always a little wary of products that claim to have vast improvements or new technologies...especially strings. I mean c'mon, it's wire wrapped around wire, right? But when I was ordering other strings, I decided the price was right to try a couple of sets out.
I put a set on my "practice" bass, an early 80's Ibanez Roadstar P-bass copy. And the first time I fired it up...wow, there was something going on there.
For lack of a better term, these strings sound like they've been EQ'd the way I would if I were recording. A little dip around 300 Hz, and a bit of a boost at 50Hz and 4kHz. And the feel of the strings was not what I was expecting for a 45-105 set. They felt more like a 40-100 (or lighter). Yet, they still had the output that I would normally associate with a heavier gauge set.
Since I just put them on, I can't speak to the life of the strings, but as inexpensive as these are, I could afford to change them every other show.
If there's one drawback to these, it's that they sound a little "choked" when I play with a pick (which is over half the time). For that reason, I don't think they would work for me live. But if you're a finger-style player, and especially if you're a slap/pop player these strings have your name written all over them. Try a set for yourself.
