I purchased this for my (now ex) wife for a christmas gift. It is a decent little banjo, and a bit smaller and lightweight than better$$ Banjos. Remember, for the price you need to get a pro to do a set up if you really want to learn on this banjo. I later bought the Rogue B-30 which is a little heavier and a little better quality if set up right. But both will work for a beginner. Here's the thing - the extras in this kit are crap. Save your money and get the Rogue instead. You'll be better off in the long run. Needless to say, I'm glad she took the Washburn and left me the Rogue.

. Garbage, I wouldn't even use it as firewood.
it took me 3 months to recieve it and when i did the neck was cracked.
The banjo sound didn't change when changing fret's. DO NOT BUY BANJO'S OFF THIS SITE!!!
I've been playing guitar for 10 years i've never had such bad customer service.
Washburn B8 Banjo Pack
.I am not incredibly experienced with the banjo, hence the need for a starter kit, but even I can tell the B8 is a lousy banjo. It produces a very hummy-sort of sound, not the sublime plucky-twang sound a banjo should make. I find, as a beginner, it is discouraging to play an instrument whose sound detracts from the music.

.The night i got this i could't put it down. It sounds good and stays in tune for a good amount of time. It is nice and light, unlike those medal bodies. I would say that you should buy another book to learn from because the one they give you is to small. And I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to attach the strap. But overall it is agood beginner banjo.

.That uses this banjo and it is in great condition. This is a fine banjo for beginners and a good banjo to travel with.
Washburn B8 Banjo Pack
.It was missing the instructional book, which I needed. A suggestion was to send the whole thing back to Washburn. Overkill. After looking up some lessons online, it's a lot of fun learning the banjo.
Washburn B8 Banjo Pack
.I bought this as a "condition 4, AS IS" deal very cheap. It only needed small repairs and set up. An excellent deal for me, a repairman. If you were going to pay the normal price, then the Epiphone is a much better banjo for only a little more.
Washburn B8 Banjo Pack
.The Washburn B8 Banjo Pak is basic, between average and bad. First, the part on tuning is just wrong, and that's the first step after opening the box. Second, head was so loose the bridge was sunken in making the banjo sound dead. The instruction book doesn't even mention head tension. Third, The pitch pipe makes no sound. Fourth, is was missing the strap hooks. There's a cheap guitar strap in the box that will not work with the banjo. Fifth, there was a broken head-tensioner and the nut was glued onto the rim. MF said I had to return the entire pack to get a new one instead of just a new 50 cent tensioner and closed my help thread. Washburn did not respond to any of my emails or calls. There is a Deering on MF's website I would recommend. Everything you would need can be found on the net.

.The banjo comes fit with strings, you need to put the bridge on yourself. Problems I had with it were one the strings wasn't attatched properly. The strap didn't come with hooks and one of the loops that its meant to connect to was unavailable. The sound the banjo makes is pleasing, it's fun to play. Great present for the new banjo player.

.The sound of this instrument is Great. .have spent some time doing some adjusments, but it was great out of the box. I had gibson long neck and this one sounds just as good..I tried others in the store and they were finished better but this one is a good value.
