I was recently in a shop testing a long list of overdrive pedals on bass. I was looking for that overdriven SVT tone in a pedal. Nothing seemed to catch my ear...the bass pedals were all too heavy on the low end and the guitar pedals had too much crunch. The clerk then told me about this pedal, and the internal voltage switch.
Plugging this into an old flip top with a standard p-bass, I dialed in the clean tone I was looking for, then hit the switch, and this thing blew me away. I've used sansamps to shape sound, but have never correctly gotten that growl, but this absolutely nails it. It's also very responsive to how you play. When I'm playing hard with a pick, it's got a great natural breakup that keeps the sound warm without over accentuating the high end and making it brittle.
Highly recommend adding this to your rig.
Electro-Harmonix OD Glove Overdrive/Distortion Effects Pedal
.The range of overdrive here is massive, starting from clean boost and going on to the higher gain Marshall-esque type tones, harmonically-rich distortion sounds of a flat-out amp; all cleaning up nicely with your guitar's volume control.
The tone switch controls the mid-frequency emphasis - flick it in, and you'll get a huge peppering of upper-mid presence that'll punch your sound right through the band.
Another useful feature is an internal switch that allows you to choose between nine and 18 volt operation, offering a subtle but noticeable playing feel with less compression at the higher value. This reminds me of another great pedal made by Fulltone.

.I had a tube screamer before this pedal, but then was introduced to it by my brother while visiting him and his family. I immediately got on musician's friend and bought it. Needless to say, I have been enjoying it ever since. It provides a very large spectrum of tone to work with. I love how it can go from a little grit that sounds perfect for blues soloing to full on distortion with a lot of good overdrive options in between. Needless to say, I won't be needing my tube screamer anymore. Both my brother and I are considering getting two to stack on our pedal boards, it's that awesome.

Electro-Harmonix OD Glove Overdrive/Distortion Effects Pedal
.I purchased this to go on my pedalboard and have used it at shows. It performed like a champ, and has a smooth overdrive\distortion vibe. It does sound like a driven british stack! I think this is a nice product and is also very affordable for someone on a budget. I have a small collection of overdrive pedals and feel that I can always use one more. Very nice sustain if you want to use it for leads etc. thru an amp without grit. I don't see it as a transparent pedal like the green or yellow one. It's more of a distortion pedal. I like mine and highly recommend!

.This is a great pedal, ads a warm tone with a clean distortion. This pedal is not for heavy metal just in case anyone is wondering.
