wanted to clean my Les Paul prior to installing those new flat-wounds, so i spritzed some 01 cleaner & prep on an old t-shirt and rubba-dub-dubbed the fretboard... man, oh man.
i could not believe the amount of hideous build-up that came off the rosewood. had to change areas on the shirt every 2 frets. not that i roll around in the mud prior to playing, quite the contrary, i wash my hands thoroughly right before i commence to playing.
could be i tend to play for 3 or more hours at a shot, but i do wipe down the strings and neck when i'm done. i know the rosewood needs to be oiled periodically and thought i'd give the 01 C&P a try first. i'm so glad i did.
this stuff is easy to use and does such a terrific job at getting all the grimey stuff thats hard to see with the naked eye. but trust me, its there, the proof was on the t-shirt.
granted, i don't change my strings as often as some of my fanatical buds who feel compelled to change them every gig, but from now on, when i DO change them, i will definitely make the Dunlop Fingerboard 01 C&P part of the ritual. its top-notch.

.This Dunlop product is a strong solvent for cleanign the gunk off your fretboard. Thought I kept mine clean until I sprayed this stuff on there. Stripped all the sweat and garbage off. Be sure to treat it with some Lemon Oil or Howard's Feed n' Wax after you clean it with this stuff though. Solid product...

.I cleaned my fretboard for the first time tonight after having my guitar for about 6 months. It picked up a ton of grime (and probably some stain that Epiphone used to make the rosewood appear higher quality than it really is) and made the fretboard look better than new. I doubt I'll need to use it often, since I doubt my fret board will pick up too much dirt in daily use (I play at home only, at least for now).
Note: my bottle came with a spray nozzle, and it smells like isopropyl alcohol - I wonder if that's all that's in it.
